    Bulldog Super@ctive

Anyone on this? Just noticed with the current offer that it would work out at £28.50 a month including unlimited local phone calls and 4meg down / 400kb/s up and its available at my postcode

this doubled with the fact that NTL want over a month to change my set top box to be swapped to one that can handle 2mb, then id be capped @ 30gb a month and my phoneline is costing me £20 a month and I can only use it after 6.... it'd be costing me roughly half as much for sooooo much more.

Whats the service like on Bulldog? I'm gonna guess it cant be worse than NTL....bloody 1.5 months to switch a set top box is ridiculous.

Unless its really really bad I'm going to go for it

    Cheers

This seems to be the norm at the present time - 500k upload as well.... sweet as.

As for bulldogs service - there is a LOT of people whinging about the service, but if you know what your doing and can reboot your router if the DNS dies instead of ringing technical then you'll be fine.

I'm in Manchester too - and they seem to be quick @ the turnaround. Mines due to be done in about a week from now but all the 4 Mb users are getting near the results above, but again this does depend on line length, SNR ratios and whatnot as well as how good the quality of copper wire BT used for your line

Or use someone elses DNS servers, like Demons.

I tried that but Nildram have cottoned on to outsiders and have started blocking people from using their DNS servers. To be honest, I only have to reboot the router every 70 odd days give or a take a week and thats probably down to it being overstressed all the time

Yeh I think we have to reboot our router every week or two, usually because it gets angry when too many peopel are downloading at once, but occasionally its because of Bulldog.

Gonna be looking at getting the super@ctive service when my current contract runs out in the summer.

I'm with Bulldog. There service is good but their support is limited. As monkey said, if you can reboot your own router, you should be fine. That's all I have to do normally to get things working properly.

    I'm just annoyed I can't get 4mb ADSL yet, I'm paying £30 with them for their 1mb!

Pings are great. CS:S I usually hover round the 25-35 mark on a few servers I live on at the moment. WoW pings around 25-55 depending on serverload and I always seem to get about a maximum 267 k/s download from places like jolt and other fast served links

I can't wait for mine to be active - I'll be on the MCE straight away watching more video's than I can shake a stick at on music factory and for the price its silly not to really. I pay 29 a month for my 2 Mb line at the moment, so a reduction in 50p and a cheaper line rental gets me 4 Mb broadband.

Theres not enough hours in the day really to abuse a line as fast as that.

No, I can't get it coz it's not active in my area yet. Well, not since the last time I checked! And I don't think I have a contract with them, I thought mine was 1 month at a time.

iirc you pay more for a monthly contract, instead of a yearly one.

I can't remember. Will have to look into it. I pay £30 a month for 1mb ADSL, but for the last 6 months I've only paid £20 as it was a special offer.

If you can get bulldog (check the website) then you should be able to transfer, you can even keep your old bt phone number. Lead times are around a month though.
