WiFi extender disrupting existing connections?

I bought a wifi/powerline booster to get WiFi to my garage, plugged it in, set it up via WPS and it worked fine.

However, later that day my phone and laptop in the house could not connect to the Internet. They could connect to the WiFi, but not Internet.

Alexa, hardwired stuff etc was fine,but no phone /laptops despite restarts & reconnection.

Unplugging the wifi/Internet boosters and it all worked fine.

I'm confused, can anyone help?

WiFi and no internet usually means the WiFi hub/extender/device is up but it itself can't talk to the router.

You could rule out duff devices by testing on the same circuit - I setup my ones plugged in next to each other to configure SSID/channels/etc.

Even in the same channel they shouldn't really break the existing WiFi like that though! Which WiFi device did they think they were connected to?

Might be worth configuring the home-plug aspect of your plugs using the utility that was included with them. I experienced similar issues until I synced them all using a utility.

Powerline normally has an led light which indicates if it's linked to other adapters or not. If no just switch on off the adapters to try again. It happened to mine once.

Secondly, powerline highly depends on the quality of your power cables. I think it also depends on your circuits being in the same phase. This may not apply.

Third, I take it your adapters are plugged directly to wall sockets and not some 6 gang extension lead with the 5 other sockets plugged with high power drawing thing. This affects signal strength especially if garage is away from main house.
