New local FTTP provider, doing things differently to the last lot

About 2 years ago Gigaclear started running fibre to the houses around here (small village in Kent). They used a mole to run the cable under the pavement and put some new connection points outside houses. The last couple of months Trooli have turned up, this lot are using Openreach ductwork and telephone poles. They are running the fibreoptic cable along the existing telephone cable, it must be saving them a fortune compared to what Gigaclear invested.
Price wise its the same at Gigaclear with a lower upload, so going to stay put for now. Gigaclear are £45 for 300Mbps up/down, uncapped. Seems strange having two competing companies in the same village, luckily we have the local exchange so its been covered when they are trying to extend FTTP to villages that barely have adsl.

Trooli were knocking at my door with sign up now offers as BT were literally just outside finishing enabling FTTP for the houses on my street. From what i have read there isnt much negative about them. I resisted but now awaiting BT install at significantly cheaper rate.

They are based quiet locally to me in Kings Hill on the old West Malling airfield. Going to stick with Gigaclear for now, no advantage to jumping ship yet, although Trooli do offer discounts in some areas when it suits them. Much easier installation than Gigaclear, no digging.

With all the things Musk is shooting into space hopefully we can do away with cables altogether soon. Certainly in rural areas if nowhere else. I'd love to see the back of telephone poles.

I am in between two towns and get terrible speeds. Hopefully an upgrade soon
