Ignoring the overkill side of what he's doing its more to give background info on what you could possible do (also at 5:24 he shows the 10gbe /nvme adapter they do for some of the NAS's they have) 11:56 showing you can slap a normal pcie network card in the box for say 10gbe or 2.5/5gbe

Well, I put an SSD in my computer. Now when I transfer files to my NAS, I get 109-119MB/s. So I would guess that this is as good as it gets until I upgrade my NAS and switches etc to 10Gbs. Which won't be anytime soon!
