4 Oct 21 - Honor 10 Huawei mobiles won't connect to Wifi - No Internet Connection
Hello all
Today, Monday 4th Oct '21, my Honor 10 lite, and my wife's Huawei P30 Lite have lost internet connectivity to wifi on a Fritzbox 3490 router that has been solid for 4 years
They ARE connected to Wifi, but the message "No Internet Connection" is showing and there is no connectivity
Internet connectivity is solid on all other devices in the house. LAN and wifi
Apple devices are working, and a Blackview phone is working
And ..and OLD Honor 6X is working
I have a new Fritzbox router , a 7530- I plugged it in and the same issue occurs.
Does anyone have any guidance please? I can't justify buying new phones. Could it be a Fritzbox issue? On two routers?
I have used the Android Reset Network settings but to no avail
Tried using WPS instead of the wifi pass code . It's definately connecting to the router.. but has no access to the internet

In the same boat, sort of. Same router and a Huawei P30. Claims to have no Internet access but will still actually let me browse.
Re: 4 Oct 21 - Honor 10 Huawei mobiles won't connect to Wifi - No Internet Connectio
Any silent firmware updates, either on router or Huawei phones?
Otherwise, no idea, sorry.

Hmm, my P20 Pro was doing the same, most apps worked fine but the WiFi settings said 'no internet' and Spotify refused to acknowledge there WAS a connection.
Related to the current net issue maybe? I wonder how they check if a WiFi connection has Internet or not?

Your Chinese overlords have decided your social scores are too low for Internet access today. Did you use the phrase 'Free Speech' in another thread? There's your problem.

You've uncovered the great Facebook-Huawei collusion :p
Are they working now? If so, perhaps they really were using some webservices for at least DNS lookup which fell over last night for about 6 hours.

this is exactly it
My phone is using some sort of Facebook Authentication!!!!!
DNS via 4g was solid.
And I know DNS on my router is spot on as every other device was OK.....
SO the Facebook DNS CLoudflare thing ruined my ability to use my mobile on Wifi at all for 6 hours.
Re: 4 Oct 21 - Honor 10 Huawei mobiles won't connect to Wifi - No Internet Connectio
Did you lose ALL interent access on the devices though?
My phone said "connected, no internet" but I could browse in Firefox, do speed tests etc, the only thing that didn't seem to work was Spotify which thought it was offline.
I rebooted my router, and my PiHole, I updated everything on my PiHole (so at least that's done now) but no change, then it started working a short time later. Offline for maybe an hour.
My Pi uses Cloudfare only (no backup DNS server) so seems like Huawei uses DNS servers to say if the WiFi has internet or not, I wonder what other devices do?

no Gmail
no browser
no speed tests
lost the lot.

So the question is - what does my phone need.....that was trapped behind the outtage?
Did something to do with Facebook pre-installs on Huawei phones get borked?
My lad had full internet connectivity on his Blackview even though Insta obviously didn't work for him. His phone showed full internet connectivity.

I have no fb on my phone at all so it can't be that. Just a weird related cloud fare issue I'm assuming...?

although it was last week that happened..
could be related?

Not for me, this was just for a short time yesterday.

Please everyone keep their eyes open for news on this. Clarity on this would be so good. Because it was quite quite odd
To be on wifi but with no connectivity, alongwith other devices also on Wifi that DID have connectivity was a weird weird thing

Will do.
That scenario does narrow down quite a few things that aren't the problem, but don't narrow it enough to tell you what is.
I had something a bit similar (years ago) with a Dell laptop that used to work on wifi, then after not using it for a while, it wouldn't wifi connect at all but everything else did. It turned out that something had been 'bug-fixed' (IIRC) in Windows which close a security issue but required downloading new drivers for the Bluetooth/wifi card. It only applied, apparently, to a particular couple of variants of that specific brand of card. It caused quite a bit of head-scratching, some hair pulling, lots of testing, some mumbling and a healthy dollop of expletive-laden anglo-saxon, before I tried updated drivers.
My logic was that it won't be drivers because it worked last time it was used. Windows, however, had changed by auto-update .... which should have occurred to me much quicker than it actually did.
