Theoretically yes, but I'm afraid I don't have any knowlege of the practical
ditto, if it can wait i'll try and remember to try atw.
k thanks guys,
lmk how to do it
Do you have IIS and CGI? Or apache on your work machine. Why not try (if all you can think of proxy sites are blocked at work then set up an old machine at home as an apache server and set up a proxy on that and dyndns it. Work (if you have a dynamic IP @ home) can't block the IP or the name if you change it every so often
http://www.filterbypass.com/cgiproxy...ools/cgiproxy/
I've run the above and it works
edit: remeber that bypassing corporate security policy is often class as gross misconduct and can loose you your job/uni place.
dont say we didn't warn you.

hold on, how do you expect me to get on msn using that?Originally Posted by Matt1eD
anyway there is a plan B
say if i were to run an irc server at home and get all my friends to join that, will that be better?
can i run it on a port that wont be blocked (the default irc port is blocked) is it hard to do?
sorry, don't get the IRC thing (I never use it either). didn't realise you wanted an out of browser real proxy. try http://webmessenger.msn.com or e-messenger (also acityhere.e-messenger.net
*just realised you can't log on through one of these proxies - will re-think*
yea, the irc thing will work best, if anyone here knows how to run an irc server, that will be much help
I think it would work, aslong as the proxy isn't blocked..
Edited by Moby-Dick: Thats uncalled for. If you have nothing nice to say then dont say it.
If you have GPRS on your mobile can msn on that?
Although almost certainly completely against the rules, and *very* likely to get sacked, you could use your computer with a modem and dial up through your office phone, or bring a laptop in and do the above.
do not do this if you value your job etc...
Just another method though....
there are quite a lot of online instant messagers...just find one obscure site that isnt blocked?
Also if you have a laptop or PDA could browse for an open wireless network in the office next door?
If you have the ability VPN out first?
Please do be aware I do not think any of these are a good idea to try. Almost certainly against the rules.

this is all in theory remember
emessenger have
http://london.e-messenger.net
http://cairo.e-messenger.net
http://paris.e-messenger.net
and hundreds more, it supports MSN, Yahoo & AOL.
bit screwed if they have blocked the e-messenger domain though eh?
www.wbmsn.com or somehting is another one...
