Better Alternative to Voyager205 Router Modem

    Hi,
I've had nothing but headache with the BT modems and now I've decided to get shot of my Voyager 205 Router/modem/firwall.

Any suggestions as to what to go for?

    List of 'needs':

    ADSL
    Ethernet connection to PC
Cheap (ie between £0 and £30)
Needs to be compatable with 2mb BT ADSL line
    STABILITY!!!

    List of 'don't really needs':

    Wireless
    Router/firewall - I have a software f/wall so do I really need it?
Multi sockets for more than one PC
    Any BT product.

    Thanks in advance!

I was thinking of a Netgear one, they seem to be more popular/tried and tested make...

What connection have you got barry? Is it with BT?

The ebuyer routers work pretty well - I have used one with a BT connection before.

I cant see any netgears in your price range though.

edit: I'll try again I was anticipating that a link to one of the connexant type routers had been posted.

    such as above.

I would definatly opt for a router rathere than a pure DSL modem type device. The NAT based firewall is an important layer of network security for you. By all means run the XP firewall ( which is good for preventing malicious programs already on your PC from accessing the outside world ).

The single port router above can connect to your network switch if you need connect multiple machines to the web.

They will work with BT connections ( I've set a few up fro cleints in the past )

They are stable (I use one for my backup DSL connection at home and its got an uptime of several months at last count )

That sounds like what I want!

7 months - I'd be lucky to get 7 hours with the 205 (depending what I'm doing)

look here for explaination of why:

I have tried 3 different BT modems and I'm just sick of them now....
