Which Wireless Router Should I Get?

There appears to be a distinct lack of Linksys in those options

But a healthy lack of Netgear!

I guess if you have a laptop without wireless, the last one would be a good choice, not sure how good SweeX stuff is, I've seen advertisements and they seem to do *everything*, D-Link specialise in networking

The 3Com's a cracking router; make sure you get the latest firmware, but it's a great deal especially if you need a PCMCIA card as well. Actually, for a while, 3Com were bundling the same router with a USB adapter, which was pretty versatile.

I've the Dlink 604 wireless modem router myself (similar to the first link but with the modem...) and i've been pretty pleased

Ive been looking as well, i think in going to go for the netgear one, seems to have good features and good firewalling.

The best ones i think are Kcorp, buffalo are ok, i have a buffalo wireless router however i had a few problems with my wireless drop signal even thou it was around 0.5 metres away, so i just wired it instead and now its great, im not sure that it was the router that was the problem, might have been the wireless PCI card but anyway i would recommend the Kcorp as they seem to be the most popular from a sales point of view.

cheers all. I like netgear but some people absolutely hate them... is it the luck of the draw if you get one that works fine (bit like getting a dead HD!)

Netgear DG834GT, We use them and they are great!!!!!!!

Very easy to configure, and well set out.

Also with that netgear one, will I notice a difference if I get a 9.99 ebugger .11b card. I mean for normal surfing won't really be doing alot of network files though.

Most competent users of netgear routers never have problems from what ive read. IMO alot of the things people have problems with IE p2p not working is due to user error/not been botherd to work stuff out. Also alot more poeple post to compain than priaise. The Netgear has alot higher rating on Ebuyer than alot of the others so it seems that theres not so maney problems.

I think its luck of the draw with Netgears, I owned one, hated it, random reboots, all the time, then it would just reboot cycle, as soon as it had finished rebooting it would die and do it again, so it cant be the routing table filling up because there was nothing to fill it with.

I hardly put mine down to user error, I called up netgear support, told me to hardware reset, which I did, became stable for about a day and a half and more problem. My friend bought one, he had problems with overheating and he had to remove the casing on it for it to stay stable :/ And at work we have had atleast two people with problems with various Netgear wireless routers, still, their wired stuff seems ok because we've had a wireless router downstairs in the workshop running about 6 months without a reboot Ever since I started working there
