    New Router help

I've recently bought a Netgear DG834G modem/router/firewall/etc,etc and all is fine except I can't retrieve my mails from my pop3 account. I've tried fiddling with the firewall settings and a few other things but, to be honest, I haven't got a clue. I can see that the firewall blocks all incoming traffic and that firefox uses port 110 but I can't see how to open that port. Anyone got one of these able to help? Any advice much appreciated as I'm tearing my hair out

Can you disable the firewall and test to see if the mail is getting through (rule out server problems)

Does the manual not explain how to open/close ports ?

I'll try disabling the firewall but as for the manual.... well....documentation doesn't seem to be Netgear's strongpoint
    Edit:
having been through the online documentation, there doesn't seem to be a way of disabling the firewall.
