Question What 512k broadband is the best

i was wondering what internet service providers are any good? at the moment i am on bt 512k and i am paying £25 a month, i was hoping for something cheaper and possibly more than 15gb a month that i currently get, maybe unlimited download-upload.

    Thanks

Well i have found my Tiscali to be ok, its really giving me generous download speeds. Im on the 512k unlimited package, which cost £25 a month and they have still yet to lower the bill :@ but its supremely fast, i used to get really low pings in CSS (aint played that for 5 weeks), and i downloaded a trailer from GameSpot an hour ago, at 95 kbs constant. WTF :/

However on the Tiscali many people are complaining. I dont know, wait for more people to express their views on their BB. You tried UKonline.net - they do some fantastic offers, providing you are in the area(s) they supply to.

    Well im on freeserve/wanadoo

Its 19.99 for me, 512 uncapped, I cant honestly say theres anything wrong with it, but Im going to change soon for want of a better deal.

The Tiscali, no offence, seems quite dear, Im hoping to pick up a 1mb package for 20, or just over

This would be the same Plusnet who are quite happily overcharging their current customers after announcing new lower prices for 2 meg Broadband?, the same Plusnet who are advertising 2meg ADSL for 21.99 but charging existing customers an upgrade fee? The same plusnet who did a spectacular U-Turn on their Fair-Usage policy recently ?

There are a LOT of unhappy campers subscribing to Plusnet right now.

Bulldog are pretty good, they have an amazing deal on at the mo, if the service is active in your area. Unlimited 4 meg broadband for just £19.50 a month. I'm waiting for my area to become active then I'm upgrading!

look at eclipse, they have been superb for the past 3+ years i've been with them. They have a flex broadband too where you can 'up' the speed of your access for short periods of time if you need it. I have the regular 512 package though. No download caps either. And static ip is free. Amazing tech support. Why anyone would go elsewhere is beyond me.

    Highly recommended.

I would have to vouch for plusnet - 1 year and not a single problem, ie i was with bulldog before and left very sharply ... they were really bad and thats being nice, but i do have friends on bulldog and they seem to be ok so i can only speak from personal experience.

NTL ain't bad. I'm getting a free upgrade to 2mb/s by the end of the month (tm) but I've never exceeded the apparent daily usage in the 18 months of use. p.s. I used to download 24/7 from p2p so I no doubt downloaded at least 5 gigs per day....

I agree on the U-turn, but for a new users its not a problem. I sent them a ticket and they changed my account for no fee. They still offer good vale/service even of they did muck everyone around.

The upgrade will be free around august time when they increase there speed, i spoke to there CS dept about upgrade and he told me that if i do it now i would be charged £14.99 or there abouts, however if i was to wait until august exsisting customers will be upgraded for free( line Permitting).
