    NTL BroadBand help!!!

Hi.... I have a computer with NTL broadband. The set top box is in the lounge on top of the telly then down a wire into the computer room where it meets a HUB like thing with flashing lights and an empty ETHERNET connection. Can i plug the LINKSYS wireless router into this little HUB like thing and would it find my wireless laptop?!?!?

I want to keep the dekstop PC wired! Just want the laptop to be wireless

do I have to plug the router into set top box????

    Please help

    Martin

First of all it's good to be specific about these things.

Hub != router, so plugging your broadband connection into a hub then into other computers won't work. That's what a router is for.

Now you say you have a Linksys wireless router. Why not connect the broadband connection into it's "WAN" port and connect the PC via wired ethernet to the router and then use the laptop wirelessly?

Doing it this way means you won't need any other hubs/switches or anything

..Unless I've completely misunderstood you, of course

Not sure what your little HUB like thing is ?. What model HUB and router have you got?

    Anyway back to your problem..
The ideal solution would be to plug the ethernet cable from the STB into the correct socket on your Linksys router and then connect the PC to the router via an ethernet cable.
Then you configure the router using the supplied software package installed on your PC.
Then you can connect your laptop to your network.

Ha you beat me to it.
