UDP Broadcast killing my Wireless AP

I've been playing around with VLC today, basically throwing a few multimedia ideas about the place.

I can UDP Broadcast a DVD (compressed or otherwise) without issue on my LAN, but it would seem the wireless AP chokes on it, even though the bandwidth usage is nowhere near 54Mbps. It's not network saturation, I think it's the AP's processor getting a bit busy - ergo I cannot log into the web interface of the AP while broadcasting, nor can a wireless device receive a steady stream without a packets getting dropped.

Are there any configuration changes I can make to my network, other than bring it up to multicast capability?

    Gracias,
    Kez.

A firmware update on the AP has helped, but I think the WPA encryption is what causes the occasional hiccup. I can manage it with streams using less bandwidth. Any other tweaks I can try?

Does using standard 64 bit wep use less processing.
