It's just a response to BT's free upgrade from 1MB to 2MB. Customers win.
I'm already on NTL's 3Mb and thats plenty fast enuf for everything I do atm..
Would be nice to see some of the TV channels takign advantage of this and starting to braodcast over the net...
aren't they upgrading 3megs to 10??
http://www.ntl.com/mediacentre/press/display.asp?id=797
• 10Mb to become the standard cable broadband speed for ntl customers
• All ntl Broadband customers eligible for 10Mb upgrade at no extra monthly cost
• Current 3Mb customers will be the first to receive the new service

I used to work for NTL (networkdesign) and they had huge plans to have BB at between 10 to 22 mb's and then link it with cable TV, email, video phones and some other things through a digi box
I've seen what the network system can do when the kits new and the supply of power isn't spiking all the time - I was very impressed and if local councils will allow NTL to play with what they've put in the holes/cabs that they paid for then you might start seeing 50-100 mb's as standard.

My dad will be happy. He's jealous at me with my 8Meg Bulldog line.

Why do I have to be so far from the exchange :-(
...with a 75Gb/month cap... That'd last me about 3 or 4 days at those speeds!
i wish the gov would subsidise NTL/telewest a bit to roll out their network at least for new builds with an exisiting network near by or at least give some tax breaks for doing
it. I live right next door to the network in a flat which is just 2 years old and i cant get
NTL. Doesnt stop them from sending me adverts though.
So whats the guess on up loads then will it be at least 1 Mbit? i hope so.
i think i will wait for telewest to equal or beat this..they havent failed me yet

Back on topic, I'm not in a new build but can't get NTL within a mile of here. Silly people, and they annoyed the hell out of me when i was at uni with their customer care when I was trying to end the contract.
