Can I do better than Pipex 2Mbps?

I've been with them for over a year but an wondering if they're no longer competitive? I haven't had any problems with the service but £33.99 seems a little excessive...

The providers I'm considering are: F2S, Plusnet, Demon and Metronet. I want uncapped, monthly contract etc

Not a hardcore downloader myself but the recent "traffic management" policy is a little worrying.

Obviously I don't want to go for an inferior service... thoughts please

I am with Eclipse ATM. The service has not been the best recently (although not too bad) but I am paying £39 for 1mb.

I had a look over at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/ to compare several ISP's. Looking at a balance of price and service, I am going to migrate to F2S and save £15 pm. Uncapped 2mb and 8mb when it arrives at my local exchange.

Edit: - If quality is of paramount performance then the two best ones ATM appear to be NDO and ZEN.

I'm with Demon currently on their 512 wires only service but soon to get a free upgrade to 2meg once the exchange gets a visit (before end Sept).

Been using them for over 5 years and service is very reliable with good customer service if things go wrong. I believe they have now offshored some of their first line support, but you can speak to UK technicians if needed and no silly 50p/minute support lines.

Not the cheapest by any means, but a static IP address and support and reliability were more important to me than just price.

    YMMV - Rufus.

Thanks. I've heard good things about them but the p2p restrictions and the "bad boy pipe" don't sound too good.

Zen and F2S are both great with Zen being the more expensive of the two, but better value if you use newsgroups

Edit : My advice is to be very wary of plusnet. They change their minds quicker than the weather and like to hide policy from their customers.

i used to use plus.net for the last year (and f9 some time before).

Plus.net arent bad but change their price plans with a drop of a hat, and don't get why that pisses me off. They do have a 3 day retention of usenet.

F2S have been consistently good, i've had my parents on them for 4 years now (3 on adsl) and i've found them to be faultless throughout.

usenet front, when you think it cost me less than £7.50 a month with my quaterly billing from http://www.usenetserver.com/ (high £ vrs $), the £5 differnce for zen isn't important, because usenetserver.com has much better retention

For quality of service, F2S have been very good, except when I tried to get a code from them for switching away... they offer a static IP address as well, which is nice if you want to run a basic web server on your machine.

Migrated to UK online couple of months ago, service has been great so far 512kbps (connects at 576kbps) uncapped for 9.99 a month, other plans are quite good too
