    Download Caps

well at the start of this month i got a upgrade with nildram from 512k to 2mb

the 2mb came with a 50gig download cap

when i got that, i thought it would be pretty hard to get over

evidently not, since the start of the month (1st August) our home network has downloaded 21 gig of our 50gig allowed per month

i think most of that is coming from me downloading the spree of recent game demos that have been released (FEAR, BF2 etc) and probably a lot is from the online gaming i do alot of. P2P software is used a little on our network, not a fantastic amount though

i just wanna know if anyone has gone over their monthly limit and had there bandwidth downgraded....or is nildram giving out empty threats?

also, is there anyway of reducing the amount of stuff that our home network is downloading constantly. eg, if a pc is turned on and connected to the internet server will it still be downloading things even when it isnt in use? should i always make sure to turn of idle comps, or unplug network cables if the pc must be on (virus scanning, defragging)?

thanks for any help that people can give

    Pete

Well, 2MB theoretically should give you around 6-8GB a day (24hour period)

That is some moderate usage, compared to some people!

If you move to Zen you can download as much as you want, there is no cap. This situation may well change in the future however
