    Internet providers

    Hi

Following on from this thread (http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=53022) i need to find an internet provider that gives:

    • 2mbps
    • Free setup
    • No cap
    • Cheap as possible

Also what are you recommends? why are you with the ISP you are? etc.

I have been trying to do this by myself most of the afternoon but there are just too many, and also i would like some ideas of customer service.

    Thank you
    Will.

ps. i have looked at adslguide, but again there are just so many!!!

    I use Plusnet.

Damn easy to set up, good service, and one of my mates gets a discount.

It isn't nicknamed AOHELL for nothing

We use Nildram... excellent service, but not if you want to pay £60 start up fee

Ntl do 2mb for £24.99. Customer Service is appaling but I've never had a problem with their internet. Also you don't need a telephone line to have cable unlike adsl.

Those Dcomm prices exclude VAT. Expensive!

NTL have a stupidly low cap.

    I jusy got Wanadoo

    +'s:
    £17.99 a month
Very good cs - I have got through straight away so far, compared to BT's 10 min wait just to talk to some one its pretty good...
Up to 2MB (if your line can support, I only got 512....bummered!)
    Free set up etc...

    -'s
1meg cap (but apparently they don't do a lot if you go over - unlike BT!!)
Windows XP / 1.1MB Orange BB: E6600 Core 2 Duo Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3P EVGA 8800GTS Superclocked WD 250GB SATA2/300 2GB Corsair TwinX 6400 DDR2 Corsair HX 520 PSU 17in LG Flatron SONY DVD RW DRU-800A Akasa Zen case SB Audigy

NTL dont enforce the cap not unless you are hitting 500 GB a month. Plus they
will be upping it to 10 Mbit soon. How long will it take BT to get around to that.

I was literally about to move ISP from Tiscali (gheylord 30gb limit) to Freedom2Surf this week, but I found out that my line will be compatible with Be (the 24mbit service). I live in London at the mo, but my crappy exchange only allows a max of 2mbit, which I am currently sitting on. So when the upgrade happens on January (conviniently placed for my b-day ) I will be joining them

I have Just moved from a 1mb Eclipse line (£39) to a 2mb (soon to be 8mb) Freedom2surf for £25. Fixed IP, no cap and rated fairly high at adslguide. Good but not the best service, but it appeared to be the best value for money. So far so good.

If your in a Telewest Cable area than they will be rolling out a 2Mb uncapped service for £17.99, rollout commences end of Sep.

If not in a cable area than heard good things about Plusnet.

    Hi

Thanks for all the replies! I think i am going to with demon.net as they seem to be giving me what i want for £19.99, although according to adslguide.org they dont have the best customer service it is still above average.
