Wireless connection ADSL

Hi.

Just in the process of setting up a wireless network in my uni house. Before i order i just want to check that the following bits will network ADSL to 4 laptops and a desktop.

That Router is for cable internet NOT adsl btw.

You need to make sure you get an 'ADSL Router'... a 'DSL/Cable Router' is for NTL/Telewest.

You need to make sure you get an 'ADSL Router'... a 'DSL/Cable Router' is for NTL/Telewest.

A DSL/Cable router will work for ADSL, ADSL and DSL are practically the same thing, and it will work. I have a wireless DSL/Cable router, and although I don't use wireless, when my brother comes up to visit he uses the wireless all the time.

Now if it was just plain cable then it wouldn't work (for obvious reasons)

Some routers labelled as DSL/Cable do not have an ADSL modem embedded and as such you would require a Modem capable of a RJ-45 connection to make this work with ADSL.

Yea you need to make sure you get an ADSL modem/router, as it will save you a lot of hassle in the long run, and be easier to set up in the short term. Thats the router only version of the Belkin I've got and have had no problems with mine so far.
Might be a good idea to stick to all one manufaturer, so Belkin Wireless Modem/Router and therefore Belkin PCI/PCMIA cards, as I found I had some issues with the wireless card (that one actually) and belkin access points. Bought a Belkin one, no probs. Oh btw if any of the computers are in the same room as the router then you could use an ethernet cable, might save some money.
