I got an email from telewest saying I'm being upgraded from 2mb up to 10mb for free as well.Just hope it's sooner rather than later. :)
i received my letter at the weekend - i should be 10mb very soon indeed
I didn't get a letter - I just noticed that d/ls were going faster than theoretically possible at 1MB/s, so did a couple of speed tests...
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 10mb :)
You're all gits! ;)
heh... some news for you folks on telewest ;)

NTL are reported to be buying Telewest for 6 BILLION dollars :o
This has been on the cards for a *long* time
Hence why both companies have been through a long debt-restructuring process, in preparation for the merger.
IIRC Telewest will be providing the main data backbone for the merged company, as it's got much more capacity than NTL, and is running newer hardware (from my rusty memory..)
They're still behind the times, now 24Mbit ADSL2+ services are becoming available... they had to increase the standard speeds to compete with the ADSL services.
The Telewest and NTL merger can only mean.....caps.
Only a matter of time im afraid :(
Not really, as mentioned elsewhere, the 24mbit services only really apply to the select few living on top of an exchange, otherwise, it\'s not that far ahead of standard ADSL.Quote:

Got the email from BY over a month ago, all they said was for my area the increase to the 10mb would be from last week till the end of October, knowing me like last time it got done on the very last day. I can\'t complain though from 2mb to 10mb for nowt, bonus.
Possibly, the main reason of why NTL imposed caps was because their network infrastructure couldn\'t cope with the load. BY never imposed the caps because they invested a lot more money in the core infrastructure at the start, so people hammering their connection didn\'t have anywhere near the impact it did on the NTL network.Quote:

Wonder how MS are doing out of this deal as MS bought a 40% share in TW didn\'t they, hence why BY pimp the xbox live crap!
Yup, a few years back they certainly did buy a large stake in BY..
ours is going to increase in six weeks aparrently. woo hoo
