wired/wireless router

Hi.
Is it possible to get a router with switch, that is 5ish ports (no less than 4.) and has 1 wireless port the rest wired?


Also, my dad has a very nice hi-fi system (about £8k) does any one know how much interference/if any a wireless network would cause? A phone upstairs (in the room above) can case a noise (the thing that makes moniters flicker), even it is not in use.

yes - ive an actiontec piece of kit that does just that (but its carp) and i think a few others do em.

ive not noticed noise on my reasonable hifi - it *shouldnt* because 2.4ghz frequency is registered. i think its the same as digital cordless phones. mobile phones create worse impact because they have to throw their signal over several miles to an antenna, whereas wireless lan only sends it over a few meters. i think you can down the strength on them anyways

I've got a Netgear FR114W which has 4 wired ports but with the addition of an MA401 (about £25) adds 802.11b wireless.
Works very nicely too!

i would go for a dedicated option rather than one that utilizes a pcmcia wireless card. think ebuyer did them for about a ton - if not then try maplin

I have the Linksys BEFW11S4 and it works great for me, something i would certainly recommend

havent experienced any interference with the wireless myself, maybe because the pc is pretty much next to the router

Well the wireles was just going to be for the lazy people in my family (the kind who phone me in my room and tell me its time for tea.) And the funky ness of walking round the garden looking at emails/playing games
