Can anyone explain this performance drop?

I recently added a Belkin wireless/wired router to my network, it went from the following setup:

BT ADSL Router > 100MB Switch (Via uplink port)

to

BT ADSL Router (Bridged mode) > Belkin F5D7231 Router (wired and wireless) > 100MB Switch (Via uplink port)

Everything is still plugged into the switch as before, just the laptop has been unplugged and uses the wireless portion of the Belkin instead.

Since changing this my LAN speed has been abysmal My 100MB network cards top out at 5% usage according to Windows task manager and file transfers over the WIRED LAN take an age (less then 1MB/s).

Sounds like your uplink is 10mbit instead of 100? What colour is the light on the switch and the router respectively? On a lot of units an orange light indicates 10mbit and green 100mbit. Have you tried various combinations (e.g. putting the switch before the belkin?)?

Going to have another play tonight. Will check on the light colours as well as removing the switch from the equation altogether.
