    lost broadband speed

I have had a pipex 1mb line for the plast 4 months. about two weeks ago, my max speed has dropped to 450Kbs. I did not change anything.

I have 5m extension lead from wall socket to filter. Modem and phone plugged into filter.

Pipex tell me there is nothing wrong from their end or BTs end. So what can the cause of the drop in speed be? I am a bit reluctant to buy a new modem, in case that isnt the fault.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Paul
