Home Network using the Mains supply

I saw this advertised recently in an issue of micromart.

Instead of installing ethernet cable around your home and instead of the problems
associated with wireless you can use your mains power supply as a home network.

You plug the adapter into a power socket and you plug an ethernet cable into it from the
computer or router. You then plug another adapter into a socket in another room which
connects using ethernet to another computer.

Im thinking about getting some probably the cheaper ones in the first link. But i cant
find any decent reviews online and i have never seen any in any magazines either.

yea i got one, i had the lindys homeplug device and the acer one. i would say go fr the acer one. i live at the bk of my parents garden thats about over 50m away and my wireless router just cant reach those range with all the trees in the way so i opt to buy one of these and their cool!!!highly recomend them

Those acer ones are dirt cheap too ive seen them for £20

I saw an advert today and was going to make a similar thread. What's speeds like on them..? Do they match 54g... I'm very tempted.

It's taken over a year for someone to get around to releasing these. The routers have been out quite a while, but not the plugs.

I can't wait. :)

To get top speed make sure the homeplug is not connected to an extension cord.
