some routers have DynDns support.
dynamic dns is an idea where you authentic from a given IP address, and then a name is given to it, the problem with this means a short TTL (time to live, how long a name is valid for) has to be given, and often this is ignored, meaning if you change IP regularally some users might not be updated to your new address.
Thanks,
it would only be for 1 user anyway, kind of a remote view to keep an eye on his small garage.
he has ADSLat home and can get it at his work, the option of dial-in is a no go due to bandwidth.
I also want it to uplaod images upon an event.
Seems very easy if connected to a PC I know, but not when we are talking 1 camera :)
Any idea of the makes of router that have DynDns ?
netgear has it
Thats interesting as I have a DG834G.
thanks will look into it, might have convinced him to run a PC though..
I have a Kcorp router and it has DyDNS
Just checked, latest firmware had DynDNS, so thanks - hopefuly that will do the trick :)
