    First wireless set up

Well have been doing a bit of research over the past few days to get my first wireless network together, Am wanting to share a broadband connection between two pc's. I thought I had sorted out what I wanted to get, KCorp KLG-575 router with the KLG-530 pc cards. This was mainly a decision drawn from the great reviews this gear is getting in various magazines. I am however a little worried to find that all technical support has gone from the Kcorp website. What has happened? i don't want to buy something to later discover the company has gone bust.

Is this gear a good choice or should i stay clear of it. Can anyone recommend an alternative - £100 for a router and 2 cards?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Also i will be provided with a USB modem (Alcatel SpeedTouch ST330). Is it better to get just a wireless router or should i forget the supplied modem and go for a router/modem combination. Which one would be better/more efficient?

    Thank you.

You are better off getting a router/modem as the usb modem do not directly attach to the router so you would have to use ICS, which is alot more hassle.

I think the KCorp KLG-575 router does not have a built in modem though so you would need an ethernet modem or use ICS or get a different router, like the Kcorp KLS-5810
    Intel i5 2500K
    Gbyte Z68mx-ud3
    2x 4GB Corsair Vengance
    NEC ND3540A BLACK DVDR
    1TB HDD
    Sony SDM-HS75P 17" TFT
Logitech Cordless Mouse and Keyboard LX700

I think i am going to get one of these combinations:

    Linksys WAG354G router
    Linksys WMP54G PCI Adapter

    -OR-

    Netgear DG834G Router
    Netgear WG311 PCI Adapter

Which of these do you think i should go for, or should i avoid these both?

    Cheers.

Both good combinations with thousands in use. Both will do what they say on the box, so whichever most closely meets your requirements and suits your budget.

    Cheers.

Have gone for the Netgear option in the end.
From reviews it seems they are very closely matched as you said peterb.

bought from broadbandbuyer.co.uk - there service is excellent. Highly recomended!
