Question Cheap VOIP handset for Skype?

I'm looking to try out something like Skype, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a cheap USB VOIP handset. It seems more convenient to me to use a conventional phone format than a seperate mic/headset.

    Has anyone used this one?

Yes, I have one (plugged in as I type) It works well with windows (2000) but you need to download the Call Me software from the Yamamoto web to make best use. (For some reason it didn't come with it....bizarre!)

    Thanks Peter.

Can you just use it with Skype without installing the Call Me thing? The blurb seems to imply it integrates with Skype.

You can - it just acts as a mike/speaker. Loading the Call Me software enables the keypad so you can dial from it - and gives more display information. It is worth doing (or to put it another way, it isn't worth NOT doing! - its only a 737K Zip file.)

cheers - So when it says 'no additional driver', that's just to function as a generic 'usb audio device' then. Sound quality okay? I've noticed the US Robotics one too, which is about a fiver more expensive.

Think the USR is just a badge engineered clone. It will function as a USB audio device out of the box - but it is worth installing teh call me software. (It seems to work with other VoIP clients as well as it is 'just' a USB audio device.

well, I always use my mic+earphones which works out very good for me!

I think I've seen a lot of cheap VIOP usb handsets on eBay... those Hong kong sellers...

It takes about 4-5 days to be delivered but cheaper tho.
