Getting out of BT 12 month contract

After an atrocious 2 months (so far) from BT, having signed up in may, of having virtually no internet connection - dya think there is any way they will give me a MAC code to migrate to Zen?

Or will I have to endure the remaining time on my contract regardless of the non-service i'm currently getting?

My friend signed up with Bulldog and maneged to get out of paying anything. He had been with them for 2 months but the net connection never worked for more than say 10 minutes at a time. He basically said that he was cancelling the contract as they had not provided the service they had advertised. If i 'member correctly he told them that if they sent him a bill they would be hearing from his solicitor. To be fair to Bulldog they admitted it was there fault and no further action was taken. You will have to kick at scream with BT, but keep mentioning they are no providing the service u have paid for and u should be able to get out of it, or a least get the problems resolved

I seriously doubt you can get out of it. Hense it been a "contract".

I guess if they break the contract in some way, then you might be able to wiggle out of it somehow..

I guess I could give it a try, my Broadband has hardly been al always on service for over 2 months so its worth a try.

I've been nice to BT so far though, might need to get a bit more assertive I guess

    Cheers,
    David

Aye, changed everything in my house - using a PCI modem justnow to make sure its not my 3rd voyager gone the way of the fishes, and replaced all the Microfilters with working ones
(I know they work because my neighbour uses them no trouble)

Any my SNR from my Voyager reads as anything between 2 and 8.5Db at the best of times, apparently it needs to be above 10 for a properly stable connection?

(I asked for a downgrade about 4 weeks ago and nothing has happened, BT's site says I can only get 1Mbps now and the line stats would seem to agree)

Well if they have failed to provide the contracted service to your house then surely the contract hasnt started yet. In which case you could cancel before it starts?
Try argueing that one...might be worth a try...?

If there not providing the service and you can prove ther at fault then it shouldnt be to hard to get out, as there breaking it not you. However in most cases they will charge you for an ealiy termination. You would have to contact them to find out more.

I presume you have raised the issue with BT's support desk...? You seem to be 6 months into the contract if you signed up in May - has it been bad for all that time?
