    Making Wired, Wireless?

not familiar with how cable works, but a colleague runs TW through to a Wired Router (Belkin N10117) with 4 Ethernet and 2 USB ports, he's asked how to make this wireless.

Am i right in thinking he could use:

A Bridge, or maybe even a USB Wireless Receiver (into one of the USB slots)?

Actually when writing the above, its apparent that the best method, must be a Bridge? Stick a bridge with a 1m ethernet into the wired router, and its acting as both. Wired/Wireless.

    Sí?

if he just plugs a wireless access point into to one of the ethernet ports, it will work fine.

I don't know what the usb ports are for (I preume printserver) but I doubt they would work with usb wireless card, although i havn't looked at the router to say definitely, even if it did it wouldn't act as an access point it only act in adhoc mode

If money wasn't an issue, it may be better to just get a new wireless cable router, and plug that into the TW cable modem. That's the setup i'm going to use when I get my TW broadband setup next week. and I've a USB wireless network adapter on my 2nd PC.

The amount you would pay for an AP wireless bridge or whatever you could buy a wireless gateway broadband router thing anyway.

This is the one i am about to get and has been recommend by a few other people on hexus

Definitely a good idea, the print server is a bit tricky, given that the documentation is a crappy translation from Korean, but the Internet access is fairly easy to set up. I'm a networking noob and I managed it on Saturday.

Just expect a few reboots for everything to sync and you'll be fine.
