    My new asus wireless router.

I got this recently from scan,

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=170238

As a router it works fine but wireless wise its a steaming pile of turd.
Before i had a dlink router with a dlink pci card. This was rock solid, it was extremely rare
to lose the connection and worked great.

Now with this new asus router often it wont connect or it keeps cutting back the data rate
to 2 Mbps even though it has full signal strength. Everything is where it was before.
Also the wifi card can easily connect to the other networks in the area about 4 i think.
Which are from various companies, Even though I get a much poorer signal, in the yellow,
it still stay connected at 5 Mbps and doesnt lose connection.

Ive upgraded tothe latest drivers on the PCI card and ive upgraded to the latest firmware
for the router but this didnt help. Also its the same with or without WEP and on different
    channels.

Anyone got any suggestions (which dont involve spending money)

I would say RMA as well. I have the same router and whilst it's not problem free (what wireless setup is?) I've found its reception and signal strength to be excellent.

I've read good things about asus wireless in the past. So this does seem off. If its not working RMA>

    Thanks for the replies,

I have actually now managed to get it to work.
There was some kind of conflict involving the PCI card driver, the asus router, XP SP2 and the
pci card software and also the routers firewall.

I had to disable the firewall on the router, update the driver but not install the updated
    software. Simple when you know.

Now the signal is very good (was full power for my old d link) and doesnt lose connection
so its good enough. I also went a wandering with my laptop and found i cant pick it up
as far away as my old one, but then why would i need to use it 50 metres down the road.
