options for a modem for back up use.
I.E. if the BB connection goes down, you can fall back onto old fashioned dial up?

dont know any with dialup backup
what about using a proxy server with a backup dialup in a DMZ ( you could also use this for IDS /p2p monitoring )

not afaik (well not cheaply) but you could easily do it with apc

The router is for someone that may or may not be able to get BB. Therefore if it did dialup, he could buy it regardless.Originally posted by Moby-Dick

Suppose I'll have to look at setting up connection sharing on a PC and assign a high gateway value, as ISDN is out of the question!
Quite a few do have a serial port for backup dialup access; I use a D-Link DI804V which has a 9 pin serial connection for that purpose, not that I use it - http://www.dlink.co.uk/343.htm.
Separate modem required, but at least the port's there.
