    Exclamation New ISP... WHO!?

    hi,
i currently have onetel.net 512 (576k actuall connection) uncapped package... thing is i am paying 23.99 for 512k.... wtf! about 3 months/4 ago they said we are upgrading everyone to 2mb.... yeah right and like 3months later... nothing! this is annoying me because i am currently getting ripped off so i would like to change isps... the gay thing is that i can only get 1mb so best bet is a uncapped pure broadband package (in other words no buy our phone line and phone package with broadband etc).
    cheers for any suggestions...

My advice after being with the cheapest in the country (e7even) for 15 months is........don't go for the cheapest in the country. I've been without an internet connection since 6th January while they 'upgrade their network'. I'm migrating to Ukonline, £19.99 1mb uncapped.

As I was filing my NTL bill I noticed that their 1Mb & 2Mb services are now unlimited again.
Don't know if you can get them in your area but I haven't had any real probs with the service over the last few years.

Also if they have been unable to upgrade you to 2Mb it may be because your line won't support it - have you checked this?

UKOnline are supposed to have shocking support. People get constant disconnections, variable speeds etc.

The adslguide forums are full of ppl who can't wait for the 12month contracts (another downside) to be up so they can leave.

    Im with UKOnline.
Its ok when it works. I had huge downtimes (week +) at first, but that seems to have settled down a bit. Pings are a bit iffy, but those slowly seem to be getting better.
Im getting a meg for a tenner. I wouldnt recomend them myself if your wanting a reliable connection. You can also forget tech support if you have a problem. It takes about an hour and a half (litteraly) to get somone on the other end. Even though they are nice people, they dont get problems sorted quickly.

    edit-

Just checked the router's connection. Its got an uptime of 1057 hours, so about 6 and a half weeks.
To be fair, they have improved quite a lot.

I'm with Bulldog and I cant fault them. They were having some problems when I signed up which meant my migration took a couple of months in the end but it was BTs fault.

You've put me off UKonline now! Rats, I'll have to start looking for different provider for when I get my MAC from e7even. I'm now thinking maybe NDO but I can only really afford their 1m capped (10gb ) service at £17.95.

    ^^

Excellent customer support nice fast connection.

IDnet pride themselfs on the fact that they have heavily invested in their network to make sure they never have any network contension.

If you do want an excellant broadband package from an ISP whoms network is not heavily oversubscribed then id seriously check out IDnet
