    Router Set-up

    Hi!

    Well I just got a uber-bargain in the form of a Linksys WAG354G router thanks to Daveham. Its all working great but I have this one question, my main rig (the only one which is used for games) is attached by an RJ45 cable, do I need to bother sorting out the port-forwarding for all my games or not? They seem to work at the mo.

    Most games dont need port forwarding. Most P2P apps do, but some support UPNP if you enable this on your router.

    Is UPNP safe? I remember reading in a guide somewhere to disable it cos it's a bit dodgy...

    By Ping I really meant performance in online games sorry. As far as the safety of uPNP, I'm not sure its enabled by default on my router...

    Dunno really, shouldn't think it would matter if you're running a software firewall too (I run Zonealarm).

    Yeah i'm running a software one too, just to be safe. As far as uPNP goes from what i've read it seems fairly safe. No site i've found has told me to disable it.

    For Pro Evo 5, I have to turn on DMZ, which is a pain in the ass.
