gigabyte networking with a mode/router

Hi,

I’m trying to set up a gigabyte LAN at home so I can transfer multimedia files over the network and have sufficient bandwidth. I have a adsl /modem/router(100mb maxspeed), if I were to buy 2 of these gigabyte switches http://www.netgear.co.uk/ethernet_ne...itch_gs605.php and connect 1 switch to the router and then that same switch to the other switch in a different location would all pc’s connected to either switch then be able to use the gigabyte network and connect to the internet?

firstly, it's gigabit, not gigabyte

can you connect switches to your router for net access? yes you can.

however, i'm not entirely clear why you want to switches - you can connect all your machines together with gigabit, and onto the net, with just one gigabit switch and a 10/100 router

Two switches saves running multiple cables between rooms with multiple machines I guess

Thanks for the responses, im going to have 1 switch to distribute ethernet all over my house, and the other in my study/office. Just future proofing by needing extra access points and gig-ethernet incase i want to store NAS drives in my office/study.
