You get what you pay for in most cases, but i've heard in this case sometimes you have to 'fight*' for what you've paid for.

    *wait/phone constantly

I believe their 8mbit LLU service is apparently decent but their customer service is still meant to be terrible from what I've heard especially when it comes to billing.

It's probably worth checking out their forum on adslguide to get some idea of how good they are, http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/postlist...&Board=bulldog.

They are terrible. I saw that offer and persuaded my parents to join. We actually joined, got no service, they then tried to sell us another package, and still insist we owe them money, even though we had nothing in terms of modem and software, let alone bandwith.

    Happily settled with Pipex now

they are awful someone I used to work with went with them and ended up sending a letter to them threatning legal action. They dident keep appoinments and when the service was finally up and running it would drop after 15 minutes in the end he cancelled with bulldog and got them to agree that they had not provided a service therfore he dident have to pay them anything but thats about the only good thing to come out of it

Being frank, the connection side of bulldog is fine. Routing, ping and traffic are all superb, with pings being very low indeed for a standard 2 Mb line.

It's the billing department thats a nightmare. They cannot setup direct debits even when the forms been faxed, posted, emailed several times with the required information and signatures.

Completely agree, being with them now for 1year, initially it was a nightmare, but the product is really good, just the billing side needs to be sorted out, but I’ve also heard that C&W may indeed look to be selling Bulldog, so maybe another set of problems may come with this!!

I've been with Bulldog for about 2 years now. Started with their 1Mbps on BT line, then got upgraded to 2Mbps on my BT line. Along comes the option to choose 8Mbps on THEIR LINE. Was a bit aprehensive about that but decided that 8MB unrestricted BW was too good to pass up. (This was when they had that TV advert and had WAY too many applicants for their service for their CS dept to deal with) Anyway Had a slight issue with BT(They didn't want to let me go) getting the line transferred over to Bulldog but after just 2 phone calls it was all sorted. I've not had a dot of a problem since (even got my monthly bill and mobile bill paid for during the issue with BT) and it would appear that my connection is running faster than 8Mbps. I did the speed test and it goes flying over the top of the scale! In reality from a good server I can DL at roughly 1MBps. Still nothing on what my university used to get. 600MBps. THATS JUST RIDICULOUS!!!

Anyway no hesitations recommending them. If you can find out how far away your BT exchange is away from you as this has a massive bearing on the speed at which the (upto 8Mbps) will go. I'm lucky I live within a stones throw away from my exchange (683ft to be precise) but if say you were maybe a mile away or more I think you'll probably only get 6Mbps at best.

Had bulldog installed in July last year, removed in september due to the phone line not working every single weekend (no incomming or out going calls just an error saying there was a fault or number not regonised)

Still Bulldog are trying to charge me for the period of September - Feb this year, there biliing and Customer service side of the company is a joke and I am still awaiting for them to correct the bill before paying it - even though I have contacted them every month since the telephone line was transferred back to bt

I got through to Bulldog today - only took 5mins on hold (much improved from my previous 1hr waits).

The best bit is that a payment was actually taken from my account and my direct debit has been set up again.

All in all a much improved customer services experiance. If the DD actually gets set up properly and starts working I may even start recommending them again .

I was tempted to change from ntl for their 8mb Broadband but found out my exchange could only do 2mb until upgraded.
You need to be careful you can get the right speed.

The problem I've has with buldog is corrupt data. Using transfers such as bittorrent is fine cause of the added error checking this provides, however using FTP or HTTP almost always the files are corrupted! Tiscalli are much better!

service update with bulldog. my phone and internet went down y/day. no dial tone. took about 10 minutes for customer service to reply (at least it's 0800 number). reported fault. resolved today within around a little over 24hours. pretty happy with that.
