    Wifi Woes

Bought myself a Netgear 110Mbps wireless router the other week, works a treat for my PC which uses the USB receiver that came with it - however I simply cannot get my laptop to connect to the network. I've tried both a PCI wifi (22Mbps) card and an additional USB Wifi receiver (54Mbps). Both detect the network but simply wont connect - with or without WEP security on...(my main PC works fine in both situations)

I'm 100% the details I've input are correct ...namely

    The channel number
    The SSID (network name)
    The WEP security info
    The mode (infrastructure setting)

Can anyone think of any reason why it would not pass the "connecting to network" stage....it just constantly fails.

Are you running the router at 110mbs? If so try dropping to 54 Mbs for adaptor of 22Mbs for pci card it seems that the router is running at a faster speed than either of your cards can cope with.

interesting theory didn't even know that could be a problem....will test it out.

Sorted. Had an optioned ticked to only granted access to restricted MAC addresses...laptop was listed - so no access. Deselected it and wayhey - bingo!
