    Evolution broadband

Having a few problems with Pipex, been with them for 4+ years now, so have had a looksee about and have come across `Evolution`. I have never heard of them before, but they seem to offer the `needle in a haystack`. Has anyone any knowledge/experience etc of them?

Evolution Broadband or Evolution DSL - I have registered for their services and will report back on whether it is the geniune article or not so far to date I have uncovered the following facts about this company.

    1. They are a registered Ltd company
    2. Neither their advertised address nor registered address has Evolution BB within the building
    3. The quoted address on the site is the address of a company called Devonshire Group http://www.devonshire.co.uk/default.asp whom Chris Wilkie the Director of Evolution Broadband works for. This company does not advertise as an isp. Devonshire is a leading recruiter, trainer, consultant and outsource services provider for the brand communications, document and creative services sector. We are members of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and abide by its code of practice.
    4. There 3 Directors of Evolution Boradband
    5. Evolution Broadband is not registered nor approved with Ofcom through there compulsory Code of Practise. (This is law)
    6. There is no direct contact number for Evolution Broadband at all anywhere I have looked.

I have sent 2 emails to there support email address so am awaiting some feedback. To balance the above ofcom has stated that although they are not registered they simply may not knowthey need to be.

I will report back in the next 10 days to confirm if this company is geniune and provide exactly what they say on the tin or are a hoax.

    Many Thanks
    Al

Have been with them since end of march but have had enough today & requested my MAC code. I got the service because it wasn't capped, however, my news access(newshosting & usenetserver) for the last week has been appauling & this morning. Couldn't even get online at all.

I found an unofficial forum that was setup by another of their customers - now he's leaving them too

I have been with Evolution for less than a month now and am currently waiting for my MAC code. My line is enabled for 5Mbps and I rarely see anything like 512Kbps! I moved from Freedom2Surf because of their secretly imposed restrictions, but even that was better than Evolution. They do not in any way, shape or form live up to their promises and I can't wait to move, but where??

I am quite a heavy user as I work from home. I really need an uncapped 8Mbps service - would anyone care to recommend a good ISP? I am considering NewNet but don't know anybody who has used them. Help!!!

Ive migrated from Zen to ace internet also. Activated on the 16th. Had no problems with Zen at all, i sjut wanted unlimited adslmax and ace can up with the goods. Ill let you's know also how that goes. Evolution is currently the most hated isp in the world.

And from reading adsl guide.org i can see why.

    Evolution update.

Finally got my MAC Friday evening after 2 emails to Evo and 2 calls to ENTA. Decided to go for Nildram - 50Gb Peak and unlimited off-peak. Friend of mine has been with them for 4 years with no probs. Only downside is that I won't get connected until 18th May. Still, anything to get away from Evo! Will let you know how it goes.

Please do post back after a little while re the Nildram transfer. I'm tempted by their offering. I'm currently with Plus Net but it's a poor show from them at the moment with many emails taking 2 or more days to arrive!

    Thanks.

    Beyond Evolution

Unfortunately it is going to take Nildram 2 weeks to effect my migration - bit slow really, but hope its worth the wait. Rang after a week to try to chase them up but still the same date.

    Thumbs down Evolution update.

Evolution have gone 'belly-up' today - "we can not guarantee that service will be continued past 6th June 2006".

Good riddance and a lesson for us all to learn - if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
