    Argh

So I'm running a mini-lan at a mates house atm, and one guy will insist on tweaking his processes and services so nothing works. Whenever he comes to LANs he changes things that ensure it is impossible to connect to his PC via the workgroup. I have disabled Jetico firewall and it worked, briefly, until he restarted. We tried the same thing again and it no longer works. Another guy was running McAfee, which I uninstalled. I was getting messages to enter a password whenever I tried entering his PC, since uninstalling McAfee that has gone away, but I get the same message as the guy that tweaks his PC to pieces.

\\pcname is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource.
    etc. etc.

Any idea what to check? This is so irritating

If someone could list the necessary services, and any other major culprits of what to check, it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Edit: The guy that tweaks his PC has problems viewing Microsoft Windows Network. I can see his, and the guy that had McAfee on there, but I don't think either can see us.

Turn off all your firewalls. It's almost certainly that. You could also check that you're all using dynamic IP addresses.
