    voice over the net....

Is there any VOIP providers which will allow a single handset to go on a desk and plug in to the 'WWW' (via adsl) and use as a normal phone?

you dont need a pbx if you use e-phones

you could get a pbx thou, im sure bt would be able to hook it all up. im working in the area of ipphones and they do suffer from more problems than conventional phones

Does this mean that, say you bought an ADSL package with 8 static IPs, providing the connection was good enough, you could have 8 separate IP phones with different 'numbers'?

Shame when you get ADSL you still have to pay for voice calls though.
