Broadband Packages - Suggestions Please :)

Well, I just got the famous - Fair Usage Policy reminder from BT, saying I have exceeded my 20gb/month cap.

Just wondering what I could get for the same price of 27.99 elsewhere - it needs to be a company with good customer service, and that has a high or no usage limit - we're heavy users of the internet

    Any help much appreciated

yup - tiscali is off the list due to high pings in online games, and NTL (or any cable for that matter) is unavailable in my area. oh, and my exchange hasn't been unbundled yet, so no 8mb

    ^^^^^^
What he said, Broadband 2 package - £25.99 a month, or go with Zen for £10 more.

Been on Nildram here for 3 years - no problems at all in that time.

ndo are also good with no cap or traffic shaping going on EDIT apparently they do have a cap of 60gb.....

Why do all these ISPs cap lines now.....i thought we were entering the age where tv/music & entertainment in general is all downloaded. How am i meant to do all of this if i have a cap on my monthly downloads...... LAME. Blair is trying to push Britain as leading the world in internet technology and we only recently had 8mb rolled out at most exchanges and now caps are being introduced by all isps on these high speed lines. I don't remember there being any caps when i signed up for ADSL a few years ago.

What is the point in an 8mb line if i have to worry about how much i am downloading. I am not saying that i would use 60gb every month.......but i feel if i am paying £30+ a month then how much I download should be upto me.

EDIT and before anyone says it, I know.....60gb a month is a lot of p0rn but I do use the internet for other stuff too

I've been with Bulldog for about a year now on 4mb, and now 8mb. Haven't had any problems with speed or customer service. I'm about 3km from the exchange, but get 7mb at max now.

The Unlimited package at Bulldog costs £19.50 per month (+ £10.50 for phoneline), and that has no usage restrictions on it - very cheap imo!

If you wanna join soon, I can give u a referral too = £50 credit on ur bill. PM or mail me =)

I think it must be one of those thing like unlimited under the term of "fair use".

Largely because of the way that BT sell their connections nowadays - ISPs can't afford to allow unlimited connections now that BTWholesale sell them the connections based on data transfer rather than speed. LLU suppliers are generally a little easier going as they don't have that side of thing to worry about, but as they get busier and the market hots up I think you're going to see more traffic shaping or hard limits on what you can use.
