    Question Weird Wireless problem

My wireless connections are set up and working fine, I can download drivers and the likes no probs and also no probs with browsing. Everything seems to be working just fine except for one thing !

When I start playing Guild Wars (online only) I lose my connection and get kicked out of the game then my wireless just keeps trying to connect without sucess unless I re enter the security key.

I have tried using the software that came with my wireless adapter but that wont connect at all so I am using the Windows wireless manager.

Any ideas what the problem may be as its doing my nut !?

Make sure your router has the latest firmware... Your wireless adapter has the latest drivers.. If that's all working fine make sure the port for Guild Wars is open.. It's hard to say.. Wireless hardware can be touchy.. If you're close enough you could try a wired connection to the router.

Just noticed it getting a bit more weird. Have been playing Oblivion for the last hour which has no online features at all and for some reason it has disconnected again requiring me to put the network key in yet again to get online. Wondering if it is something conflicting in my system (device manager is saying everything is fine however) or wether I just have to do some major configuration to the router.

Is there a decent free wireless manager to get me connected that anyone knows of that will possibly alleviate the problem ? I'm starting to think it may have something to do with the Windows connection possibly.

Do you have any other computers/laptops near by? Could create an adhoc connection between the 2 and see if it drops if you send files etc.

I've checked the settings on it (not showing as adhoc connection) the kids computer is off (which is also on wireless) so its mine connecting to the main livebox. Main computer is wired in via a lan card.

Its a really weird problem. When I was using the Wanadoo Inventel wireless adapter I had no probs at all with anything and got many hours out of Guild Wars. Problem has only started occuring since I put in the 3com adapter and using the windows connection manager.

Reason I mention testing an adhoc connection is to eliminate the livebox in the process. Also could be any number of things interfering - tried changing the channels to either 1, 6 or 11 on the router?

Yeah, I think I will take a look at the router in the morning before I go to work

Reason I mention 1, 6 or 11 that they 'master' that part of the bandwidth. Other channels overlap each other. Where as others inbetween can have quality issues. Also try moving the livebox just incase something new that could intefere, is doing so.
