    Firewall help required please.

    I have an 'adhoc' wifi network at home; My PC, Squeezebox3 and my MDA Vario.

    I have set up basic Internet Connection Sharing, but this only works when Zonealarm Pro Firewall is shut down. When Zonealarm is runing, everything else works accross the network, ust not ICS.

    Can anyone explain how i set up ZoneAlarm or what else i need to do?

    I have added my MDA's I.P address in as a trusted zone, but i still have to close ZA to allow ICS to work.

    Thanks.

    I'm not sure if ZA ( regular version ) plays well as a gateway firewall - you may need to pro version.

    I think he said he's using Pro...

    Can you explain exaclty in what way its not working - what happens?

    If I recall, you should be able to set ZoneAlarm to tell you everything that is happening so you can say yes or no to allow things to happen - see if you can find that option. Also you might want to reset any rules it has set up for itself (self-learning). Then try using ICS, and hopefully ZA will alert you to what is happening, and the you can determine which rules to set.

    Best thing to do, to be honest is not use ICS - it really is pants. Buy yourself a router with a firewall, and these problems go away...

    i managed to get things working with zonealarm free. just unistall fully and reinstall, but when you are reinstalling, make sure you tick the option that tells it you use a network and not a single user pc. this sorted it for me.

    Disabling ICS and re-enabling it may also have a similar effect on triggering ZA to allow ICS...

    Sorted it. If anyone else runs in to this, it's very simple;

    1. Select Firewall|Main.
    2. Click Advanced.
    3. In the Internet Connection Sharing area, choose "This computer is an ICS/NAT gateway"
