Bring up the TCP/IP config screen for the client and write out what it says....
Also make sure the server has the IP address of 192.168.0.1.

is that the settings from the server ? (machiene with direct internet connection) aka HAS THE MODEM
-
that would be the client
but the host looks the same
-
The host should be configured with the IP 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 rather than set to automatic.
-
why
- it worked before like that!!
- that one of the way that the practicallynetworked.com guide sayed i could do it!!
- i tryed it the other way and it was no better
so why do you say that?

When you say "resetting it back up", you do include deleting the isp's connection + removing both network cards from device manager and then starting from scratch?
Firewall software needs to have been mentioned - even if you state that you arnt using any.
Its better to set up by hand as its a fraction esier setting up the firewall sometimes and also you dont have to hunt around for each machines ip address all the time :)
