    Wireless router help !

I just bought a wireless router - Netgear WGT624 - and need a bit of help.

I dont really need it as a standalone router - the PC i will connect it to will usually be on anyway.

    My problem/question :

I only have a usb modem and the router only has RJ45 for the intermnet connection.

So can I still share the connection if I keep the modem on my PC and use Internet Connection Sharing on the PC instead of buying a modem with ethernet connection ?

    Ta,

    Mars

yes you could do that, you just won't need to use the uplink port of the router

So you are going to use the broadband router as a switch? Seems a bit of a waste of money...

If he is on ADSL that is the only way he can use this router as it doesn't contain an ADSL modem.

The alternative as Mars notes is an ethernet DSL modem, such as the D-Link DSL-300T.

Basically yes. Enable ICS from your computer, and use the wireless router to expand your network.

Decided not to take the router after all - was only gonna be £21 BTW.

Too much hassle and still a bit of uncertainty if it would work as wanted.

So if anyone has a Wireless Modem Router at abotut £25.....
