    Bulldog 16Meg and Speedtouch 585

    Does anyone have the above combo?

    I had it installed yesterday and switched my router over to the SpeedTouch 585, since then I have lost my ADSL connection 4 times! Each time it happens it specifies "Disconnected due to timeout expired" on the router and I need to restart the router to get a connection again.

    Of course, Bulldogs service team had no idea what the problem was and tried to tell me I was actually "connected to the Internet"....when my router didn't even have an IP address , they also asked me "Is it raining outside?", like their service doesn't work when its raining....


    Anyone have this issue? Know how to resolve it?

    Not exactly the same, but I upgraded my connection from 2mb to 10mb (NTL) and my Linksys router couldn't hack it - every few minutes the connection would drop and I'd need to wait a minute or two for it to re-connect.

    How new is the router you are using (I don't mean how long you bought it, but manufacturing date) as it maybe cannot hack 16mb. I ended up buying a newer version of the exact same router I had previously and it worked perfectly.

    You could always look into a firmware upgrade for the router. Also, you could try direct connecting your comp an ADSL modem without a router to make sure it is the router thas the issue.

    Its very new and was supplied by Bulldog for their service.....and I did upgrade the firmware to latest version without any change.

    Guess I might ask them to replace the router....I am very sceptical of routers after having a few really crap ones over the years......had settled on a BT Voyager a while ago which worked perfect but it doesn't support ADSL2+

    Thats not as daft as it sounds - if your property is connected with overhead wires the change in weather conditions can affect the signal to noise ratio.

    When do the disconnects normally take place, are they random throughout the day or just in the morning or evening say?
