What happens when you get ADSL

hi

I have always lived in cable areas so have always had decelent uncapped cheap broadband, however i will be moving for about a year to an uncabled area to live with a friend who does not have brodband, just a BT line with dial up

Anywho i said i would pay for broadband, but just woundered if someone could tell me how the billing works, i.e. is it on the BT bill my friend will get or not, and the same for the connection charge i wil have to pay?

I think BT retail bill through the phone bill, but everyone else is either through credit card, debit card or direct debit.

My Nildram account comes off my Mastercard.

The monthly bill comes through on the telephone bill if you go with BT, and the connection charge I'm not sure on, though if you pick the right package you can avoid that

BT Broadband (Now called Yahoo Broadband I believe) and BT Telephone are seperate companies hence they won't charge together.

BT charge your in arrears for the telephone and the broadband company will charge you up-front. You pay the broadband company the connection fee as well.

BT Brooadband (which is still BT broadband) is a service offered by BT retail, who also supply telephone services. If you have a BT line and you order broadband from BT then they will be billed together.

Your BT line rental and broadband is charged in advance, telephone calls in arrears (obviously!)

That only applies to BT serrvices of course (although BT broadband is as good as any other capped service althought their customer services is a bit iffy!)

If you get broadband from another provider over your BT line, BT will bill you for the line rental (and any calls) your ISP will bill you for the broadband service, either by credit/debit card, standing order/direct debit, or debending on the company and service, an invoice.

If you go to someone like talk-talk (who are offering free broadband if ypu use their telephony services) you will be billed by BT for the line rental, talk-talk for the calls and the broadband service. I have no experience of talk-talk.
