Internet Connection problem with Shaw, please help my friend ASAP

Hi guys

I have a friend living in a house and his landlord willing to share his Shaw Internet with my friend. The internet bandwidth was shared by a hard wired 10MB hub between 5 computer (including my friend 's desktop PC). The problem my friend having is that his internet access is not always "ON" and always getting time out problems.

May I know is there anything my friend can do to improve his Internet Connection ?

Sounds like either the CPE is disconnecting after a set period and not reconnecting very quickly or other people ar using all the bandwidth...

How is the hub connected to the net?
