    Plus.net users - slow?

Anybody else experiencing a slow connection speed for downloading? - I don't mean BitTorrent, FTP, etc - Just standard HTTP downloading...

    Cheers

I've just got home from a few days away and I noticed things are a tad sluggish - downloading the latest Live Messenger client at the mo and it's trickling down at circa 57kB/s

Same here, even just browsing these very forums is slow.

EDIT: Try a reboot of your modem/router, that seems to have cleared up the sluggishness I was seeing.

My connection stability has gone to pot these past couple of weeks - just waiting on the repair of my Vigor 2600 and I'll see if that improves things. If not it looks like I'll be logging a ticket 'cos this ain't acceptable.

Out of interest which gateway are you connected to? I'm wondering if it's the same issue they had before with one of their gateways... I'm on pte-ag1

My plus.net has been fine since I got a proper router, and had it in the main phone line.

    500-600k download speeds.

    Hi,

I'm on thn-ag1, since my line was maxed I have had a lot of stability issues causing me the need to reboot my router/modem which would then show connected at a totally different speed to what it was on.

My line upgrade was done quite a while ago, it does seem to settle down a bit but only for a few days then starts playing up again - I've not yet logged a complaint with PlusNet.

I was maxed on PlusNet with the first wave of queue jumpers. My speed was stuck at 2Mb (BRAS profile locked, BT's cockup lot of people had the same issue) and it was sorted out a couple of weeks ago. I was having all manner of instabilities with my connection and it would randomly drop all over the shop though.

After reading around I found it was my router at fault, a Thomson Speedtouch 510v4. Turns out that routers with Alcatel chipsets just don't like ADSLMax at all. I picked up a Speedtouch 510v6 off eBay for fifteen quid with has the Broadcom chipset in it (known to be great with Max) and everything was suddenly coming up milhouse! Been superb ever since not a problem with download speeds and it's been connected without any issues for well over a week now.

    Oh and I'm on ag2.

    Hi,

I did have a Netgear DG834GT which randomly packed in working, all of a sudden it would no longer power up!

I've now got a DG834PN, I wish I hadn't as I really don't like the silly looking dome light thing on the top even though you can turn the LED's off it still looks pretty stupid.

If I could have got my old DG834G back off my mate who isn't even using it I'd have held out for the new DG834N as that looks quite smart.

I have not noticed a sudden degradation on my Plusnet line. I appear to be using 'ptn-ag2' as my gateway.

I have a Netgear 834G which has a Texas Instruments chipset, synced at 8128 Down and 448 Up, download speeds (from a decent server) in excess of 800KB/s and 40KB/s uploads.

    (BF2 Patch 1.3 - 458MB in 10 mins - yes please)

I do notice a slowdown at peak times, however I personally put it down to exchange contention - when the kids get home from school, or mum and dad need there holiday bargain fix
