Limiting Internet Speeds From Network

Hello i am looking to know if there is anyway to limit the speeds of other computers going through my router?

I am the main user and as such i want most of the speed and want to make sure my mums boyfriend doesnt try to hog my bandwidth. Is there anyway to do this?

If his computer directly connects to the router there is not much you can do.
If he is hogging your bandwidth using P2P, go to your router and block off some ports (using the firewall) to his computer.

Say block all ports except http, ftp, pop3 and CS:S? If he can't do anything he can't hog

Else you could install software like Netlimiter on his computer, but he is probably smart enough to disable it somehow (i.e. kill the process, turn off policies)

There is not much you can do really. If installing software on his computer to limit doesn't work then you had to block ports, or worse case cut him off the internet.

Just tell him not to use that much or else he'll have to pay the excess charge.
