    ADSL Max

My local exchange is now ADSL Max enabled but I am still only receiving a 1Mb service through UK Online.

Is ADSL Max ISP dependant? As I cannot find a UK Online ADSL max service.

Yes it is isp dependants. You need to see if your isp is implimenting it for their customers yet.

If not get a new isp

I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but if it's rock solid stable, keep it!

Since I went to Max (no choice....Zen only do Max) I've had a constant nightmare with drop outs.

Thought it was all sorted last month, but it's doing it again now....evenings....between 9:30 and 11:30.

Doing my head in...just weant 100% stability....would happily drop back to 1mb for 100% no drop out.

YUp I spoke to UKOnline yesterday and they barely knew what it was and had no idea if and when they would offer it. Me thinks I will give BE a go when they upgrade my Exchange in the next month.

If you go with MAX then you must be prepared to expect 2 or 3 weeks of unstable and unreliable connections and lits of annoying drop-outs. Mine with F2S has stabalised nicely - but it is rarely up for longer than a few days solid. My previous 2 Meg link with F2S would stay up for hundreds of hours.

One friend who regraded to Max never got a stable connection again, and his broadband became unusable for about 2 months; he tried replacing microfilters and even bought a new ADSL modem/router, but it remained just as poor. He has now cancelled and is going with BT - as they will provide both line and be ISP so he hopes the 'finger-pointing' will stop and he will get a stable service......
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

I'm getting regraded to Max tomorrow via UKFSN. £19.99 for 300Gb offpeak, 30Gb onpeak, more than enough for me.

Will post stability when its settled, but hoping to achieve about 3Mb.

If only it was that simple
Even though they both have "BT" in their name, they are 2 separate companies.

Email them zak and tell them to tell BT to interleve your connection. May result in a higher IL2 pingage however, and they will possibly charge you for it.

    kopite....thanks dude.

    We're nailed now :-)

SO long as the router stays on for a solid 24 hours, it retrains and is sorted.

The BT engineer ran new cable pairs from my house through the entire town and to the exchange.

He is the top top dude ever. And so are you Zen guys who made it all happen :-)

UKOnline are owned by Sky and aren't reselling ADSLMAX products at all - their policy is to install their own equipment in exchanges and offer high speed services that way. Unfortunately, if (like me) you don't live in a major city it isn't going to happen soon.
