    BT visit day today....

..and I've just lost connectivity at a time when I never normally do...and my new sync speed is very fast.

I'm expecting a ring on the door bell soon...I think some one is tinkering......

    /double bass finger drumbeat!

I wouldn't hold out hope of BT turning up, they've never been much used with me...took 'em 3 months to downgrade me to 1Mbps!

agreed, i had to wait 6 weeks for someone to come out and actually connect my phoneline (apparantly this was the earliest they could do it) - on the day they was due to come i recieved a text message saying that the engineer infact didnt need to come out to my property but would connec the line at the exchange

4 days later and endless calls to BT the line still wasnt connected, infact i had to wait another week and a half for the engineer to actually get his ass to my house and connect the line

all this for the bargain price of £75

    Still no sign Zak33?

I really hope when you get this sorted you do a kind of project log - detailing all your experiences & highs and lows. That would be an epic read!

He might just fiddle with the line and then go back to BT HQ without telling you

    I'm BACK

/swipes arms across chest, to signal end of drum beat

    I got me a HUMAN BT ENGINEEER>>>>>>not a droid

He was top class, though today may not have finished the job yet:

He has traced some inner cabling in my house that was potentially faulty, (though it may not stop the drop out as I have been using the master socket for days) which he has disconnected, so I am now syncing at a hugely faster speed in my PC room. They're not supposed to touch inner cabling as it's house owners problem, but I looked so pathetic and gutted he traced the cabling, pointed out it was not original, showed me where it was likely to be buggered, and isolated it.

If I have still dropped out tonight (which is likely as nowt major has changed from the master plug back out), I'll be reporting it back to him (he's ringing at 9:30 am) so he can come and run new cables to my house from each box all the way back to the exchange

Did I get lucky, or WHAT? If this goes according to plan, i'll pray to be sorted by the end of the week. He going to choose another twisted pair from my house to the local box, then from there to the master exchange in the estate I live in....and swap the lot!

    oh this might sort it!

    I pray it does....

OK...its not use if it drops out again, but at least I have a clean line. His lappy software showed a potential of a proper 3-3.5 mb real life connection, so I'm not as far from the exchange as I thought.

Well at least this is looking promising and BT are getting off their bottoms and attempting to help.

Please keep updating us on the progress

7pm and all's well, though the actual throughput is slower than ever, the sync speed is higher than ever.
