Not used one myself, they are supposed to be good as you don't need to have your computer turned on to make/receive voip calls.

The one from Comet is tied to the vonage voip subsciption service and this is why it is cheap, an unlock version can be bought for £50 Unlocked PAP2

Late last year a post was put on the net on how to change the firmware on these boxes so it could be used with any VOIP provider instead of being locked to Vonage. Vonage in the UK sent there reps to all the Comet stores to recall stock. I went to the Bolton Comet on the of chance that they had some, saw 20 empty boxes on the shop floor - tried to buy one, and after 20mins for the Manager / staff no having a clue why the computer didn't reconise the bar code and warehouse worker came out and said the vonages reps were in earlier that week to take the stock, he didn't know why (but I did )

The one on sale now at Comet has the latest Vonage firmware, none has tried unlocking it yet, so it's not known if it can be, following gives information on the box :-
